Man arrested after Rijkaard Salu Siafa stabbed to death in Croydon
Homicide detectives have arrested a man on suspicion of stabbing Rijkaard Salu Siafa to death in Croydon last Friday.
Police were scrambled at 6pm on April 12 to Fellomongers Yard where they found the 22-year-old wounded.
Members of the public gave first aid before London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance arrived, but Mr Siafa died at the scene.
A 34-year-old man was arrested in Lambeth on suspicion of murder in the early hours of Friday and he remains in custody at a south London police station.
Specialist officers continue to support the victim’s family who have been informed of the arrest.
Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Lee from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command leads the investigation and said on Friday: “Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Rijkaard’s family and friends who are coming to terms with his death following this shocking incident.
“This loss has ripped an irreparable hole in their family and I would ask their privacy is respected at this difficult time.
“I would also like to thank those members of the public who rushed help Rijkaard in the immediate aftermath.
“I would urge anyone who saw events unfold and has yet to contact police to do immediately.
“Local residents will continue to see an increased police presence around the area of Fellmongers Yard – if you have any concerns, please speak to one of them.”
A 20-year-old man was also arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder.
