A man was arrested at one of Donald Trump’s resorts after being involved in a shoot-out with police.

The man was reportedly yelling ‘anti-Trump rhetoric’ as he opened fire into the air inside a hotel lobby at the Trump National Doral Golf Club in Miami early on Friday.

When police arrived, they found the suspect – thought to be a 42-year-old man from Doral – was armed with a handgun and had draped an American flag over a counter.

Miami-Dade police Director Juan Perez told reporters the man appeared to want to lure police into a gunfight.

He said: “He did succeed (in luring police), and he did lose.”

The fire alarm was reportedly going off in the hotel, which Perez said was an attempt by the suspect to lure officers into the lobby.

Police opened fire on the gunman, who was reportedly shot several times but is in a stable condition and receiving treatment in custody.

A Doral police officer also suffered injuries but wasn’t shot, he said. There were no other known victims.

He said it was too early to tell what the man’s motive was and an investigation is underway.

“We are not saying this is terrorism. … We are not discounting anything at this point,” he said. “We still have a lot of work to do.”

Donald Trump’s son Eric praised Doral and Miami-Dade officers, tweeting: “A huge thank you to the incredible men and women of the Doral Police Department and Miami Dade Police Department. Every day they keep our community safe. We are very grateful to you.”
