Man arrested on suspicion of murder as police search for missing London woman

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder over the disappearance of a woman in east London.

The man, aged 45, was arrested Tuesday after the woman in her twenties was reported missing from an address in Orchard Place, in Poplar.

Officers said while they were continuing to search for the woman, they believe she has “come to harm”. Her identity has not been released.

She was reported to police as missing on Sunday.

The arrested man remains in custody. The man arrested and the woman are known to each other, said a Met spokesperson.

Homicide detectives are investigating.

The woman’s next-of-kin have been informed.
