Man arrested after three women stabbed to death in Vienna brothel
A man has been arrested after three women were stabbed to death inside a brothel in Vienna on Friday night.
A 27-year-old male Afghan asylum seeker is being held by police after the attack in the Asia Studio, in the Austrian capital’s red light district near the Danube river.
He is said to have roamed room to room to carry out the bloodshed and the three victims were found in different parts of the brothel.
Local police were called around 9pm when a passerby found blood outside the brothel and found a fourth woman inside who is being questioned as a witness.
The motive of the attacker is unknown and police confirmed the news on Saturday.
The identities of the three victims have not been made known and their bodies had "cuts and stab wounds," police spokesperson Philipp Hasslinger said.
Brothels are legal in Austria although Asia Studio describes itself as an "erotic massage" parlour.
A local policeman said: “The perpetrator is not Austrian. He first had to be treated in hospital because he injured himself while carrying out the crime.
"He was then handed over to police custody.
"The interrogations and investigations into the background to the crime are now in full swing.”
