Man breaks world record with five-day Sniper Elite 3 video game marathon
Blejch had originally wanted to man the controls for a week, but fatigue got the better of him and he gave in
A Polish man has set a new world record for the longest ever individual video game session by managing to play a World War II sniper game for an incredible 141 hours and 41 minutes before finally being forced to give up.
Hubert 'Gordon' Blejch picked the WWII shoot-out Sniper Elite 3 as his game of choice to set the world record, which was carried out at the Poznan Gaming Arena event in the western Polish city of Poznan.
Blejch was allowed a ten-minute break every hour, which he used to make trips to the bathroom, have medical check-ups, receive massages and take very short naps.
The previous record holder had been Okan Kaya from Australia who had managed 135 hours 15 minutes and 10 seconds when he played Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 (Treyarch, 2012) in New South Wales between the 13-19 November 2012.
The new record holder managed to raise almost £2,000 for charity with the funds set to go the RAK Off foundation (a cancer-related charity) and Child's Play.
