Man charged after 'imitation firearm' found in Glasgow sparking armed police response
A man has been charged after an "imitation firearm " was found in Glasgow on Friday night sparking an armed police response.
Police, including armed officers, swooped on the scene in Springburn at around 7pm last night following reports of a man 'in possession of a weapon'.
Glasgow Live reported that at least three police vehicles and six specialist officers were pictured at the scene. Police Scotland has now confirmed that a 28-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
A spokesperson said: "Around 7pm on Friday, 3 May, 2024, police were called to the Kay Street area of Springburn, Glasgow, following a report of a man believed to be in possession of a weapon.
"Officers attended and an imitation firearm was recovered. A 28-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident."
