Manchester City have been quiet in the summer transfer window so far.

Despite links with some players, most rumours circling the Etihad Stadium has consisted of those players that could be leaving rather than coming in. Some players have returned to pre-season training this week while others are still representing their countries in the Euro 2024 and Copa America respectively.

Manuel Akanji is set to link up with the squad soon after Switzerland lost 5-3 in a penalty shootout against England in the quarter-finals. Meanwhile, Rodri is also still in with a chance of glory as Spain progressed to the Euro final.

With that said, MEN Sport has taken a look at the media headlines.

Joao Cancelo fee reduced

According to Italian publication Calcio Mercato, City have reduced Joao Cancelo's asking price. It is said to have gone down to £21- 25m (€25-30m) from £59m (€70m).

Barcelona are known to be interested in his signature, however, the initial asking price of £59m had put the Spanish giants from sealing a permanent transfer and were looking for another loan move. The report also adds that the Portugal international has been offered to Juventus and Inter 'in the last few days.'

What MEN Sport says: Selling Cancelo has become one of City's priorities this summer as he no longer fits into Pep Guardiola's plans. Although there are understood to be very few suitors who want to sign the Portuguese permanently, loaning him out again would not be beneficial for City so it makes sense to reduce the asking price in order to sell him. This will encourage clubs to move forward and to pay the fee required in the case of Barcelona, who could benefit from a cut-price deal after struggling financially.

Dani Olmo hailed

Ally McCoist was left impressed with Olmo's performances for Spain as he scored the winner against France to take them to the Euro 2024 final. He believes the 26-year-old has been a blessing in disguise for Luis de la Fuente's side after stepping in to fill the void left by Pedri, who suffered an injury against Germany.

Speaking on talkSPORT, McCoist said: "I don’t know if you agree or not but you need little things to go your way sometimes in tournaments and Toni Kroos’ tackle on Pedri in the first 10 minutes of the game, as tragic as it was for Pedri, they’ve given them another gear with Dani Olmo.

"He was magnificent when he came on against Germany and he’s carried that form on and it’s amazing how things in tournaments just sometimes go your way, even if the things that go for you end up going for you and that’s an example of that."

What MEN Sport says: City are reportedly showing a 'concrete' interest in the RB Leipzig star, who is a man in demand this summer. The reigning champions could take advantage of striking a deal for £51m (€60m) before his release clause expires on July 15. Despite there being other clubs interested, the project proposed by Pep Guardiola the Etihad is very appealing for many players.
