Man dies in Bexley house fire with investigation underway

A man died in a Bexley house fire last night (Monday, June 24). Part of a loft conversion in the two-storey mid-terraced house was destroyed in the blaze.

The incident in Welling saw the London Fire Brigade called at 5.50pm. Around 25 firefighters from Eltham, Sidcup and Bexley fire stations and four fire engines rushed to the scene on Kent Avenue.

The residential road is near Falconwood station and just off the A2 linking South East London to Kent.

The man died at the scene, confirmed the brigade.

The incident was over by 7.26pm.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Met Police and the brigade.
