Paramedics say nothing could be done to save the life of a man inside a flipped car on a Staffordshire road. Emergency services - which included three ambulances - were scrambled to the collision Lichfield's A38 this morning where they found an overturned car.

As StokeonTrentLive reported the route was subsequently shut off as road policing officers and collision investigators urged motorists to avoid the area. Meanwhile a second man was taken to hospital and two further patients were assessed and discharged at the scene. The alarm was raised just before 8.55am with emergency services called to a single-vehicle smash near to the Swinfen Interchange.
