Man dies after getting into difficulty in pond

A 74-year-old man has died after getting into difficulties in a pond in Pembrokeshire. Police said they were called to reports of a man in water at an address in St David's on Thursday (June 27).

Dyfed Powys Police said officers attended, along with colleagues from the fire and rescue service and ambulance, however, sadly, a man died at the scene. A spokesperson for the force said that the death is "not being treated as suspicious".

They added: "His next of kin have been informed of the incident, as well as HM Coroner."

A spokesperson for Mid and West Wales Fires and Rescue Service (MAWWFRS) said crews from Haverfordwest, St Davids and Carmarthen fire stations were called to an incident near St Davids at 3.55pm.

He said: "One male was located and retrieved from water by the Swift Water Rescue Team from a pond measuring 40m by 20m and 3m deep".

Adding: "The incident required a multi-agency response, with Dyfed-Powys Police, Air Ambulance and paramedics from WAST also in attendance."
