Man dies after horror crash on A40 between lorry and pedestrian as Air Ambulance rushed to scene
A man has died after being hit by a lorry in west London. The pedestrian was killed after the collision happened on Western Avenue yesterday afternoon, April 11.
The incident in Park Royal was on the major A40 road through the area. The lorry hit the man on the busy road at about 4.15pm. London Ambulance Service called the Met to the scene and despite the efforts of the emergency services the man died at the scene.
Road closures were in place yesterday after the incident and there were long delays. Several buses were diverted as police dealt with the collision.
A spokesperson for the Met said: "Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at about 4.15pm on Thursday, April 11 to reports of a collision involving a lorry and pedestrian on the Western Avenue, W3.
"Officers and London's Air Ambulance attended. Despite the efforts of emergency services, the male pedestrian died at the scene. Road closures are in place."
Last night, a section of a major West London road was blocked for hours following the incident. According to travel website Inrix part of the A40 was closed westbound around Acton, after A4000 Leamington Park (Gypsy Corner) which has led to long delays.
London bus routes 95 and 487 were on diversion. Transport for London (TfL) cameras showed long traffic queues for several hours while an eyewitness claims to have seen someone being given CPR.
