Man dies in hospital after being hit by motorbike in Birstall

A pedestrian has died after being hit by a motorbike in Leicestershire. The man in his 60s died in hospital on Wednesday (July 3), after he suffered serious head and abdominal injuries following the collision in Birstall, Leicestershire Police said.

The incident happened in Loughborough Road close to the junction with Sibson Road at 7.45pm on Saturday (June 22). The force said a blue Honda motorbike, being ridden by a man in his 50s, and the pedestrian were involved in the collision.

The rider of the motorbike was not injured, the force added. Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at Leicestershire Police are investigating the incident and the force is continuing to appeal for witnesses, dash cam and mobile phone footage.

Detective constable Madeleine Hayes said: “We know that there were vehicles travelling in both directions on the A6 at the time of the collision and there were also people coming off buses at the bus stop, opposite the Birstall MOT Centre, on the city bound carriageway of the A6. I would like to continue to ask anyone who may have witnessed the collision and has not yet spoken to police to come forward.”
