A man has been taken to hospital after he was found seriously injured in a car park in Devon. Emergency services were called to Station Road, Broadclyst, just after midnight today (Saturday, April 20) to reports of concern for the welfare of a man found there.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said the man was in a serious condition and was taken to Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital for treatment. His next of kin have been informed.

A cordon was set up around the car park near Broadclyst Leisure Centre, where the man was found. Police officers remain in the area while further enquiries are carried out.

A witness told DevonLive: "Half the car park is cordoned off with police tape and officers are guarding the scene. A black Suzuki parked next to the road has also been cordoned off by police.

“There was a police presence at the leisure centre yesterday afternoon as well, but I’m not sure if this is connected.”

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: “Police were called just after midnight on Saturday 20 April following of a concern of welfare of a man who was located injured on Station Road in Broadclyst.

"Emergency services attended the scene and the man was taken to the RD&E Hospital in a serious condition. Next of kin are aware.

"A scene guard has been put in place while officers establish the circumstances surrounding the incident. ‘The incident is not believed to be suspicious.’.”
