Man injured during 'cowardly attack' as he closed up corner shop

Police have issued images of two people who could help them after a man was attacked.

Merseyside Police said at around 9.50pm on Friday, March 15 a man was closing a convenience store on Longmoor Lane in Fazakerley when he asked two people to leave the premises. They complied but threatened him.

Around 10 minutes later as he was closing the shop, he went outside and was assaulted and threatened by a man and a teenage boy. The two suspects, a man in his 40s and a boy aged around 16, left the scene.

The victim, a man in his 30s, sustained cuts to his arm and knees, and injuries to his face, head and back. Officers attended and carried out a search of the area.

CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing to identify the suspects responsible, and detectives have issued two images of people they believe could assist with their investigation.

Detective Inspector Neil Dillon said: “This was a cowardly attack to the victim who sustained injuries and was left very shaken by the attack. I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or has information which can help with our investigation to please contact us.

“I am also appealing to the two people featured in the images, or anyone who recognises them to come forward. We believe they could hold information that could be vital to our continuing enquiries.”
