A man who's been playing the People's Postcode Lottery for a solid eight years was left gobsmacked when he finally received a package- only to have his dreams dashed in moments.

Chris Cork was over the moon when a white parcel sporting the lottery's logo landed on his doorstep. The excitement was palpable as he shared his experience on TikTok with his followers under the handle @chriscork89, exclaiming: "I am a People's Postcode Lottery WINNER... well I thought I was!

"I've been doing the People's Postcode Lottery for eight years. The postman just knocked on my door, gave me this, which is quite big. Sealed. I thought I f***** done it. I've won a lot of money."

He continued, detailing his anticipation: "Look out the door to see if there was a camera crew there or Daniel was there, nobody was there. I thought it says 'share your win'. As I peeled that back, a little bit of excitement creeps in. I thought this could be a cheque. If you look at the size of that, it looks like a cheque could be in there."

But alas, when he opened the package, what he found inside was not the jackpot he had been dreaming of. "You will never guess what I have won," he said, setting up for the anticlimactic reveal, reports Derbyshire Live.

"Congratulations. You've won to set a f***** handmade soaps. I mean, they don't even smell nice. F*** sake! Why do you need that for two little soaps?

"I played it eight years and they've never, ever done anything like that. Soaps or anything. I went from a cheque, a couple of grand to two f*****g soaps that are going to go in the bin."

The video has since gone viral, racking up over 60,000 likes and drawing plenty of comical comments. A user responded: "Sorry mate you had me in stitches."

Another chimed in: "Never played it. So tempted now after seeing such charity fair prizes on offer," while someone else shared: "That's worse than the few teabags I won."

The People's Postcode Lottery has been contacted for a statement.
