Man pronounced dead after Dartford Crossing police incident

Police have now confirmed that a man has died following an incident at the Dartford Crossing on Tuesday morning (May 7). A large emergency service response was called to the QEII Bridge at around 9am following reports of concern for the welfare of a man.

The bridge was fully shut throughout the morning as emergency services attended the scene. A spokesperson for Essex Police has now said: “Officers were called to the QEII bridge at around 9am this morning (7 May) following a concern for welfare report.

“Emergency services were in attendance and sadly, a man was pronounced dead at the scene. His family are aware.”

The QEII Bridge has since been fully re-opened. The earlier lengthy traffic and delays have now cleared and travel conditions have returned to normal along the M25 clockwise and the A282 at the Dartford Crossing.
