Motorist Sentenced After Driving 100 MPH While Drunk and With Child in Car

A 37-year-old man in England was sentenced for dangerous driving and child neglect after he was seen speeding down the shoulder of the M40 roadway in Buckinghamshire while drunk and with a child in the car.

Footage released by Thames Valley Police shows the incident on December 29, 2021.

Police said they were alerted by several callers to a silver SUV driving down the hard shoulder of the M40 at over 100 miles per hour while swerving through traffic.

Investigating officer PC Amy Boughton, of the Joint Operations Roads Policing Unit, said: “This was one of the worse pieces of driving I have ever seen."

The car, driven by Miley Connors, was seen colliding with a road barrier before Connors was seen getting out of the vehicle on the hard shoulder and urinating up the side.

Police said a child exited the car and ran up the embankment while Connors was urinating. Connors followed, and the pair were located nearby a short time later, after being approached by a member of the public.

The person who located the pair said Connors appeared drunk and had been vomiting. The child was found to be muddy and cold.

Connors was separated from the child and taken to a local hospital, where police said his foul language caused another person to faint.

Connors was sentenced to two years in prison, suspended for two years, on Friday, April 12.

He was also disqualified from driving for two years, ordered to complete 250 hours of unpaid work, and given a £3,000 fine. Credit: Thames Valley Police via Storyful

- I've just been on the M40 and I wanted to report a really awful incident. I'm just shaken him up, really. I think we were quite a way back from when it spun off the road, so I wasn't there, but I did see him literally urinating against his car. There was a young lad was running up the side of the road. Obviously though I was concerned for the child. How they didn't die, I have no idea. No one got hurt. It's awful.

- 05. There's no one in the vehicle. Both front seats with their seat belts plugged in. There were multiple calls, one saying a male got out and urinated at the side.

- At the entrance is a man with a young boy, who appears to be drunk. He seems sick. He can't walk. He didn't want us to call emergency services, but I feel we need to have somebody here.

- OK, right. OK.

- He definitely vomited because it really smelled. [LAUGHTER] And I would say it's like an alcohol because he can hardly walk. So I'm a bit worried about the little boy as well.
