Man in serious condition in hospital following house fire in Hucknall

A man remains in a serious condition following a house fire in Hucknall. The Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service was called to a property on Watnall Road, Hucknall, on Monday, July 8.

The emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 8pm and the road was closed for some time so that the "serious house fire" could be put out. An investigation into the incident is currently ongoing by Nottinghamshire Police and the fire investigation team.

Investigation vehicles were seen outside the damaged property on the afternoon of Tuesday, July 9, and vehicles at the scene were covered in soot. One person was treated by paramedics at the scene, who has now been confirmed as a man in his sixties.

The resident remains in a serious condition. A spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Police said: Emergency services were called to an address in Watnall Road, Hucknall, at 8.11pm yesterday (Monday) after a fire was reported.

"The lone occupant, a man in his sixties, was rescued from the address and is currently in a serious condition in hospital. A joint investigation between Nottinghamshire Police and Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service is ongoing into the cause of the blaze."
