Man suffers serious burns in Workington as brewery incident closes road

A man has suffered serious burns following an incident at a Workington brewing facility today (Monday). Emergency services attended the scene and have closed a road in the area.

Police were called to the incident shortly before 3pm. The ambulance and fire services also attended.

The road closure is in place at Calva Brow near the Tractor Shed brewing facility. People have been asked to avoid the area.

cumbria-police>Cumbria Police said: "A road closure is currently in place following an incident at a commercial premises in Workington this afternoon (13 May). At 2.50pm police were contacted by NWAS who had received a report of an explosion at a brewing facility off Calva Brow.

"NWAS, Police and Fire are currently in attendance. At this time it is believed there is a single injured man who has suffered serious burns.

"A road closure is currently in place at Calva Brow. People are asked to avoid the area whilst emergency services continue with their work at the scene."
