Man survives early morning shooting in Sharon

Apr. 2—SHARON — A man was injured but is expected to survive a shooting early morning Tuesday in Sharon.

Police responded to a shooting at 12:16 a.m. Tuesday in the sub-100 block of North Water Avenue, off West State Street, Police Chief Edward H. Stabile said in a press release.

Patrolmen found a 23-year-old man with gunshot wounds to the lower torso and leg, receiving assistance from people in the area. Patrolmen provided life-saving measures at the scene. The victim was taken by ambulance to a local trauma center.

Two store fronts on North Water Avenue were also hit by gunfire. The gunshots came from the parking lot area on the east side of the street, where officers found more than 30 shell casings. Two vehicles in the parking lot were also hit by gunshots.

Police said this is an ongoing investigation, and this is the only information they will release now.
