Man Taken Into Custody After Altercation With NYPD at Migrants' Shelter

A man was taken into custody on February 15 after fractious scenes at a New York migrants’ shelter, during which he resisted arrest and officers were pelted with various objects.

In video recorded by Jose Marquina at Randall’s Island, NYPD officers can be seen struggling to handcuff a man wearing a white T-shirt, while being pelted with objects such as water bottles and blankets. At one point, a female officer is hit in the head with a rucksack.

Local media reported that the officers were responding to a 911 call about a man acting in a disorderly way, and that the individual resisted arrest.

No injuries were reported, a police source told the New York Post.
