Manchester United have reportedly enquired about the availability of defender Miguel Gutierrez. Reports in Spain have claimed that Gutierrez has been the subject of interest from United, with Real Madrid also keen on signing the 22 year-old and Arsenal, Chelsea and Bayern Munich linked back in January too.

This summer, Spanish outlet Relevo suggest Borussia Dortmund are interested in the left-back alongside Real and United as well as Italian side Bologna, who may be looking for a replacement for Euro 2024 star Riccardo Calafiori. United may well be considering a move for a left-back given Luke Shaw's ongoing injury worries and Tyrell Malacia's lack of availability because of his own injury woes.

Former Real ace Gutierrez came through the ranks at Getafe before joining the Santiago Bernabeu side in 2011 as a youngster. He spent just over a decade with Los Blancos before moving on to Girona in 2022, helping the Catalan side to finish in third place and qualify for the Champions League.

Gutierrez is available for around £30m this summer due to a clause in his contract and it is reported that the player is happy to stay in Girona but is keeping an eye on the situation at Real, where Alphonso Davies is said to be being eyed as a potential replacement for Ferland Mendy. Gutierrez has been linked with United before, back in July 2017 according to the Mirror.

Jose Mourinho was the Reds' manager at the time and he was said to be keen on a move for the Spaniard, but it was claimed the player wanted to remain close to his family in Madrid.

Mourinho was then reportedly keen on signing him while he was at Tottenham in 2021, but again Gutierrez decided to stay at Real and try and force his way into Zinedine Zidane's first-team setup. If United end up making a move for Gutierrez, an up-and-coming left-back who may turn out to be a top talent, they'd be successful where Mourinho was not.
