Roy Keane's comical reaction to England's last-minute victory over the Netherlands in the Euro 2024 semi-finals had some viewers in stitches.

Ollie Watkins, who had only been on the field for a mere 10 minutes, delivered an exceptional cross-goal finish that outsmarted Bart Verbruggen and secured a 2-1 win for England. This triumphant goal has propelled the Three Lions into their second consecutive European Championship final, where they are set to face a formidable Spanish team in Berlin this Sunday.

Former Manchester United captain Keane remained stoic amidst the jubilation of his ITV pundit counterparts Gary Neville and Ian Wright when Watkins' shot found its mark. Keane merely offered a sly smile and shifted slightly to the side as he observed the replay of England's historic moment from the studio balcony.

This victory signifies the first time the Three Lions have made it to the final of a tournament held abroad. Gareth Southgate also made history by becoming the first England manager to guide the men's team to two major tournament finals.

However, it was the Netherlands who initially took the lead with Xavi Simons scoring a powerful goal just seven minutes into the game.

England's captain Harry Kane soon equalised with a controversial penalty, awarded after VAR determined he was fouled by Denzel Dumfries. Southgate's squad gained momentum before half-time. The second half saw both teams evenly matched until Watkins' moment of brilliance sealed the deal at the last minute.

"Unbelievable," exclaimed the Aston Villa forward to ITV amidst the jubilation. "I've been waiting for that moment for weeks. It's taken a lot of hard work to get where I am today, grateful that I got the opportunity and I grabbed it with both hands. I'm delighted."

Watkins confessed: "I swear on my life, I swear on my kids' life, I said to Cole Palmer [who assisted the goal], we're coming on and you're going to set me up today. And that's why I was so happy.

"I knew as soon as he got the ball he was going to play me and then you've got to be greedy: touch and finish. And when I seen it go in the bottom corner... oh my life. Best feeling ever."
