Manchester United are reportedly putting plans in place to sign Udinese youngster Simone Pafundi.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who acquired a 27.7 per cent stake in United, will guide the club through a 'revolution' in their bid to ensure they return to its glory days once again. Some changes have already taken place behind the scenes, with Sir Dave Brailsford, Jean-Claude Blanc and Jason Wilcox joining the board.

A new CEO has also been confirmed and Omar Berrada is set to arrive at Old Trafford in the summer. His arrival indicates that United are planning for the future as they look towards competing for the biggest trophies again.

According to reports in Italy, United are looking to bring in 18-year-old Italian Pafundi. He is currently on loan at Swiss side Lausanne Sport, who is owned by Ratcliffe's Ineos.

Tutto Mercato (via teamTALK) claims that the Swiss outfit are ready to trigger the clause that would make his move permanent for a reported £13million (€15m). However, given Ineos' connection to both Lausanne and the Red Devils, Pafundi could end up at Old Trafford.

In addition, Blick add that the youngster is seen as a 'mega-talent' by the owners and it's not the first time United have been linked with him. The first link emerged in 2022 alongside rivals Liverpool.

The midfielder's versatility on the pitch is an attractive factor for teams, and he is also able to play as a second striker and on the wing.

Elsewhere, Real Sociedad goalkeeper Alex Remiro has reportedly been identified as a possible replacement for Andre Onana. The 28-year-old has had a difficult debut season at Old Trafford, having conceded 79 times in all 47 appearances thus far.

He has often come under fire for his displays this season and was recently on the spotlight after the 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace. According to newspaper Marca, United are huge admirers of the Spanish shot-stopper and are claimed to "have him on their agenda."

Remiro, who extended his stay at Sociedad in 2022, is reported to have a £60m (€70m) release clause in his contract which runs until 2027. The 29-year-old has kept an impressive 20 clean sheets in 45 games in competitions this term, earning his first cap for Spain earlier this year.
