Man United try to fix major Old Trafford issue as Newcastle United safety assurances sent
Newcastle United have been assured that there will be no safety issues at Old Trafford ahead of Wednesday night's season-defining affair against Manchester United.
A torrential downpour played out in front of a live TV audience on Sunday as water crashed down on to the stands through a leaky roof causing waterfalls, flooded terracing and issues in the tunnel area and the away dressing room. But the problems should be fixed before Newcastle head to the Theatre of Dreams.
On Monday, images of workmen fixing the leaky roof at Old Trafford emerged online as club officials rushed to get things ready for the clash against Newcastle. The issues were blamed on a lack of TLC at Man United with former Newcastle boss Alan Pardew wading into the debate on talkSPORT on Sunday.

Pardew said: "You have to point the finger here at the Glazers, they’ve definitely taken their eye off the ball on a number of issues. Bottom line with the financials, well done, you’ve taken all the money out. Good luck to you.
"Actually, what have you left behind? A club in a massive crisis and Jim Ratcliffe is going to have to pick up the pieces and he has a big job on his hands."
The game hasn't quite been billed as any type of grudge match for Newcastle but the encounter will be the first between the two clubs since sporting director Dan Ashworth informed Newcastle he wished to join the Red Devils and was placed on gardening leave.
Despite, Newcastle's better form and better league position, they have still not won at Man United in the Premier League for 10 years. Although, they did emerge as 3-0 winners in the Carabao Cup earlier this season.
