Manchester Airport announced it was experiencing a “major power cut” this morning (June 23) and while the “power has been restored”, flights are still being affected this afternoon.

In the latest update, the airport posted a message to its X account, telling followers of the current situation.

At 12.15pm, it said: “All flights from Terminals 1 and 2 are being cancelled until further notice and passengers due to travel from those terminals are advised not to come to the airport and to stay in touch with their airlines.”

However, those flying from Terminal 3 today are advised to “come to the airport as normal unless advised otherwise by their airline.”

The airport added that while it’s good news for those travelling from Terminal 3, they should still expect delays.

Passengers were caught up in delays this morning as the news about the power cut was announced with Manchester Airport saying it was trying to get those already at the airport on their flights.

Some are already checked-in and the airport says they will be departing but the flight will be “subject to delays”.

Passengers may find that their luggage isn’t on the flights but the airport has assured passengers it will reunite them with their luggage “as soon as possible”.
