Footage has emerged on social media of the shocking moment an 'unruly passenger' is apparently dragged off a Manchester Airport flight before being arrested. The mobile phone footage was taken on board a plane bound for Turkey that was forced to divert to Belgrade Airport as a result.

As reported in the Manchester Evening News, police stormed the plane on Tuesday night (April 10). The video captured on the flight appears to show a heated argument involving a man and a woman sat on a row of seats behind.

Expletives and shouting can be heard at times. At one point a man believed to be sat with the woman sits up and starts pointing and gesturing at the man behind. Cabin crew are then seen in the aisle with a man stood up.

The man is then shown on the floor of the plane surrounded by flight staff before his apparent arrest. The SunExpress flight, from Manchester to Dalaman, departed shortly before 7.30pm.

The decision was made to divert to Belgrade in Serbia, over 700 miles away from Dalaman. The airline said the 'unruly passenger' was removed by local police after landing at around 10.30pm.

Shortly afterwards, the plane then continued on to Dalaman. The flight path, as shown on FlightRadar24, showed how the aircraft diverted close to Sarajevo and circled in the air before eventually touching down.

A SunExpress spokesperson said: "Our flight XQ505, which was scheduled from Manchester to Dalaman on 9th April, had to divert to Belgrade due to an unruly passenger. Upon arrival, the passenger was removed from the aircraft by local police and the aircraft continued to Dalaman after the passenger's disembarkation. The safety and security of our passengers and crew is of the highest priority to SunExpress."
