Manchester City crowned Premier League champions after Arsenal lose to Nottingham Forest

Manchester City have been crowned Premier League champions after Arsenal lost 1-0 to Nottingham Forest.

Mikel Arteta's side are now four points behind Pep Guardiola's men with just three to play for. Forest's victory secured their own safety from relegation in their first season back in the top-flight since 1999.

It is the fifth time Manchester City have won the Premier League in six seasons.

They are in the running to win the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup this season and would be the first English team to secure a treble since Manchester United in the 1998/99 season.

City will face Manchester United in the FA Cup Final on 3 June and one week later will take on Inter Milan in the Champions League final.

The team will also host Chelsea on Sunday.

Manchester City captain Ilkay Gundogan said: "To have helped the club win a third straight Premier League title is something very special.

"The Premier League is without doubt the most demanding and competitive league in the world so that tells you everything about what an achievement this is.

"This squad is so talented and so special and to have been captain this season has been an enormous privilege.
