There are thousands of free pints to be claimed for England fans if the national team score during the vital Euro 2024 quarter final match against Switzerland. All footy fans have to do to reclaim a lost pint is to head to the popular city centre pub, The Brotherhood of Pursuits and Pastimes, and scan a QR code that can be found on bespoke beermats and posters in the venue.

The treat comes from alcohol beverage brewer Heineken which has launched the world's first beer insurance policy called 'HeineCare.' HeineCare is the unique insurance policy that lets fans order another free drink if their original pint of Heineken or Heineken 0.0. is lost during raucous celebrations of an England goal.

The scheme works by fans scanning the QR codes on the mats and posters at participating pubs after falling victim to an accidental spillage. They will then be taken to the HeineCare homepage where they will be asked to provide some basic information before receiving a voucher to show to staff and claim their replacement pint.

As well as the insurance policy, Heineken have also unveiled the 'Pint-Cho', a beer resistant poncho that is designed to protect fans from the beer splits which commonly occur when England score. Developed by Amsterdam-based designer rainwear brand Rainkiss, the Pint-cho is a super lightweight head and body cover that is available in two colourways, Heineken green and an England retro kit-inspired white version.

Unlike conventional single-use ponchos, the the Pint-cho is a loose-fitting, semi structured three-quarter length garment made from 100% certified recycled polyester, that can be used multiple times. According to Heineken, 20 bottles are recycled to make one Pint-cho.

Running across five iconic pubs in London, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle and Leeds, Heineken say thousands of replacement pints have already been claimed through the scheme, and thousands more are expected to be claimed this weekend.

Participating pubs are limited to a number of free Pint-chos available for punters to get their hands on, and a further batch are available for people to win via Heinekan's Instagram.

Commenting on the launch of the Pint-cho, Heineken marketing manager, Stephanie Dexter said: “For decades, Heineken has not only celebrated football fans but also championed the glorious, crisp pint and all its beauty. However, when these worlds collide during national tournaments, unfortunately, it can be dangerous for your beer and your outfit.

"So this summer we’ve intervened. The Pint-cho is fully beer resistant, it looks great and is a serious fashion statement. Beer will inevitably be spilt in pubs and pub gardens on Sunday. But it’s ok. Fans can style it out in a Pint-cho.”
