Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba admits 'it's hard to concentrate' after World Cup triumph

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba admits he has been guilty of letting his concentration levels drop following his World Cup success with France.

United have equalled their worst ever start to a Premier League season this term with tensions between Jose Mourinho and Pogba continuing to cast a shadow.

Twice this season the France international has appeared to aim thinly-veiled criticisms at his manager, commenting he feared he would be fined for saying certain things after the first game of the season before insisting his side need to “attack, attack, attack” after September’s draw with Wolves.

Pogba has been one of United’s most productive players this term with four goals and three assists in all competitions but has also seen his performances come under question.

And the former Juventus midfielder now admits motivation has been a problem after such a major triumph in Russia this summer.

“It’s hard to concentrate, to start again, to hit hard, because we touched the stars,” Pogba told AFP.

“For us, it was the best trophy you can win as a footballer.”

But we like challenges too. We have goals. For example, I’ve never won the Premier League, that’s an objective. I’d like to do that.”
