Manchester United will look to move back up to sixth in the Premier League when they travel to Crystal Palace on Monday.

Erik ten Hag's side have dropped down to eighth in the table after wins from Newcastle and Chelsea over the weekend. Their current position in the league will see them miss out on European football for next season unless they beat Manchester City in the FA Cup final.

And several players have hinted they will feature in Monday night's game. Sofyan Amrabat, Casemiro and Antony are among the players to have put pre-match graphics of the match on their Instagram stories in a hint that they may start against Palace.

Ten Hag's team will be without several players in defence at Selhurst Park with Harry Maguire the latest centre-back to pick up an injury. The England international could be out for three weeks due to a muscle injury.

It has been a nightmare campaign for United with 62 separate cases of injury and illness which have caused a player to miss a match. And Ten Hag believes that a bigger squad is required at Old Trafford in 2024/25.

"Yes, that is one of the issues in constructing the squad," he admitted, "where we have to improve, to do things better to construct a squad where we have more depth.

"I think the most important thing is to return players and to get them back. In many positions we created depth and now in some positions we don’t have choices.

"For instance, the left back position. (Luke) Shaw only 15 starts this season so far and (Tyrell) Malacia zero starts. Not even available."
