The summer transfer window is for business and Manchester United continue to work behind the scenes to try and get deals over the line.

The United squad will report for pre-season training on July 8 and Erik ten Hag is set to take a strong squad to the United States, despite players still being on international duty at the Euro 2024 and the Copa America. Harry Maguire, Marcus Rashford and Mason Mount were omitted from the England squad, while Casemiro and Antony were overlooked for the Brazil squad.

Victor Lindelof's Sweden failed to qualify for the Euros and Tyrell Malacia is nearing a return after spending a year on the sidelines. With United yet to get any deals officially done, transfers could now accelerate as former Newcastle man Dan Ashworth has become their new technical director.

However, United may have to wait a little longer to complete potential deals for Manuel Ugarte, Matthijs de Ligt and Joshua Zirkzee.

United are understood to be in talks to sign Paris Saint-Germain's Ugarte after recent approval from the French giants that they would allow the midfielder leave. While his agent confirmed that it's 'almost certain' that he won't stay in Paris, a deal could be delayed due to his involvement with Uruguay in Copa America.

Uruguay finished top of Group C after winning all three games against Panama, USA and Bolivia. They will now face Brazil in the knockout stage on Sunday.

Another name that has featured prominently in United's list is Ten Hag's former player De Ligt, from their time at Ajax. However, he too is away on international duty with the Netherlands, who reached the quarter-final of Euro 2024.

The Bayern Munich defender has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent weeks but has remained tight-lipped when asked about his future. "I did not play and cannot say much," De Ligt is quoted as having said on Monday night as he is yet to feature in any of the Netherlands' four matches at Euro so far.

With United also looking to strengthen their attacking line, they are interested in completing a transfer for the Bologna striker. It is said that a deal could rise to £46m with agents' fees.

According to sources in Italy, United could spend up to £13m in commission to secure a deal. However, completing a move for him before pre-season may also be unlikely, with the 23-year-old representing the Netherlands in the Euros.
