Manchester United's plans for Jadon Sancho return to Carrington next week

Manchester United expect Jadon Sancho to report for pre-season training on Monday.

Sancho, 24, has not trained with the first team since he was banished from the squad by manager Erik ten Hag in September and it is unclear if he will participate in the senior squad's sessions next week.

United sources say Sancho is available for transfer and valued at around £40million. United bought Sancho for £72.9m in 2021.

Ten Hag said he dropped Sancho from the matchday squad for the defeat to Arsenal on September 3 due to his performances in training and Sancho swiftly accused the Dutchman of lying in a public post on his X, formerly Twitter, page.

Sancho refused to apologise for the outburst and was relocated to the dressing room in the academy building at United's Carrington training complex.

The winger had to get changed for training in a locked room due to safeguarding reasons as under-18s were also on the premises.

United fly to the United States for their three-match pre-season tour on July 24 but their first friendly fixture is against Rosenborg in Trondheim on July 15.

Sancho rejoined Borussia Dortmund on loan in January and helped the German side reach the Champions League final, where they were beaten 2-0 by Real Madrid.

Dortmund paid United a €7.5m loan fee to re-sign Sancho and the Bundesliga side are open to keeping him next season.

Sancho last played for United in their 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest on August 26. After Ten Hag explained his absence at the Emirates Stadium, Sancho wrote: "Please don't believe everything you read. I will not allow people saying things that is completely untrue. I have conducted myself very well in training this week.

"I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won't go into, I've been a scapegoat for a long time which isn't fair!"

The Manchester Evening News revealed in June 2021 that Sancho's unimpressive training form had contributed to his lack of minutes for England at the European Championship.
