Manchester's sole Michelin Star restaurant, mana in Ancoats, has announced it is to open on Sundays for the first time. And they have announced they are to reduce their prices AGAIN in a bid to be "more accessible to those who want to visit us".

Mana has held the Michelin Star since 2019, becoming the first Manchester city centre restaurant to do so since the 1970s. Gaining a star from the Michelin Guide's inspectors is considered the highest foodie honour in the restaurant world.

Chef patron Simon Martin announced last year that they were reducing the price of their acclaimed multi-course menus in a bid to make the venue "more accessible" to diners, from £195 down to £175. Now another £10 is coming off the set menu prices.

In an email to customers, mana announced they had "exciting news" to bring. It includes changes to their opening hours which will mean opening on Sunday afternoons for the first time.

The email message said: "As you may know, over the past six months, we’ve been considering how to be more accessible to those who want to visit us.

"Ultimately, our schedule should allow our work to be shared with as many people as possible, whilst also enabling our team to have an incredibly positive work-life balance.

"We’ve decided to make some changes to our opening hours and pricing. From speaking to our guests, we’ll now be open on Sundays, and therefore, from the 8th of May, we’ll be here for you to enjoy the experience we provide for the whole weekend."

They added that prices will be lowered by another £10 from current prices. Diners can choose from the "Complete" menu at £165 with 14 courses or "Extracts" for a smaller selection of plates for £85.

The change in opening hours sees Sunday lunchtime and afternoon reservations go live for the first time starting from May . But the venue will start to shut on Wednesdays later in May, which had previously been open for evening bookings.

The email announced the new reservation windows as Thursday and Friday evenings only, Saturdays from 12 to 1pm and then slots from 7pm to 8pm and on Sundays bookings can be made at times between 1pm and 5pm.

While it will be the first time you can book in for Sunday lunch, diners need not expect a traditional roast dinner style menu. The venue is known for its extraordinary crafted dishes using ingredients like cured egg yolk and verbena.

It retained its Michelin Star for a fifth year when the awards were announced in Manchester earlier this year. It is also listed in many of the UK's other top restaurant guides including being named in the Top 100 at the National Restaurant Awards.

The email added: "We’re particularly looking forward to creating an elevated experience for our guests on Sunday, a day when gathering for food holds so much cultural significance in Britain.

"Join us for lunch early in the afternoon whilst natural light envelops the space via floor-to-ceiling glass walls, or plan to arrive in the early evening for a dinner that doesn’t keep you out too late at the end of the week. You’ll even have time to catch a train if travelling from afar."

Due to demand for bookings, reservations are released at different intervals throughout the year, with bookings currently open until the end of July.

August reservations will open from May 1 at the Blossom Street venue.
