Mancini: Tevez Could Be Back Soon

Mancini: Tevez Can Be Important For Us

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini says striker Carlos Tevez could play against Chelsea in just over a fortnight.

Mancini believes the 28-year-old is at least another fortnight away from a return to first team action.

The Argentinian is short of match fitness and has not played for City since September. He has spent more than three months away from the club without permission.

The problems between Tevez and the club began when the player was accused of failing to warm up during a Champions League match against Bayern Munich in September.

Speaking ahead of the Bolton match in the Premier League, Mancini told reporters: "I think he needs a minimum of another two weeks.

"It is important he plays two or three games with the reserves. He needs to play on a big pitch.

"For him it is like pre-season, after three months it is not easy to play. At this moment he can't play."

Tevez had a successful run-out for the reserves this week after returning to training.

Mancini accepted Tevez's apology for his conduct last week and says the matter is now closed.

The Italian manager said the pair had met and put their problems aside.
