Maniac on the loose after he follows woman into NYC building and rapes her: cops
A fiend who stealthily followed a woman into a Soho apartment building and raped her was on the loose Monday, authorities and sources said.
The attacker threatened to shoot the 23-year-old victim in a terrifying ordeal after he snuck into the building near Thompson and Prince streets at around 4:10 a.m. Sunday, cops said.
Video released by the NYPD late Sunday shows the perv walking along the sidewalk, at first passing the entrance to the residence, but then doubling back when he spots someone entering — possibly the victim — before grabbing the door and walking inside.
The victim was walking up the stairs to her apartment when the sicko — who was walking down from the third floor — walked past her, law enforcement sources said.
As the unsuspected woman continued walking upstairs, the callous attacker grabbed her from behind, pushed her into the second-floor hallway and put her in a chokehold, cutting off her breath, the sources said.
“Don’t scream or I’ll kill you, I have a gun,” he snarled at the victim, according to the sources.
He also shoved her to the ground, causing bleeding and cuts on her right knee — before raping her, cops and sources said.
The woman was taken to a local hospital for a medical evaluation, police said.
The suspect had not been caught by Monday.
He is described as having a dark complexion and slim build, and he was last seen wearing a black hoodie with red lettering that forms a heart shape, gray pants with stripes and orange sneakers.
