Marginal bumps in prices for gas and furnace oil, while diesel takes a small dip

Maximum fuel prices in Newfoundland and Labrador remained nearly the same Thursday as the previous week following the Public Utilities Board's latest price adjustment.

Most fuels fluctuated by less than a cent per litre, according to new settings that the PUB posted.

The ceiling on self-serve unleaded gasoline increased by 0.7 cents per litre Thursday, putting the price for a litre on the Avalon Peninsula at $1.724 per litre. Prices vary across the rest of the province, and range as high as $1.89 per litre in parts of Newfoundland and as high as $2.12 per litre in Labrador.

The price of diesel decreased by just 0.3 cents per litre, putting prices for the fuel between $2.05 and $2.17 per litre in Newfoundland and between $2.01 and $2.54 per litre in Labrador.

Furnace oil increased by 0.1 cents per litre, meaning customers in Newfoundland will now pay between $1.22 and just over $1.40 per litre.

Stove oil decreased by 0.43 cents across much of the province, but decreased by 0.18 cents per litre in Labrador West and Churchill Falls. The fuel price now ranges between $1.28 and $1.46 per litre in Newfoundland and between $1.41 and just over $1.94 per litre in Labrador.

Propane used for heating fuel saw the largest fluctuation of the week, down 2.1 cents per litre. Customers in Newfoundland will now pay between $1.03 and $1.17 per litre, while customers in Labrador will pay between 90 cents and $1.35 per litre.
