Yahoo News 'The Chase' star Mark Labbett 'gutted' new Chaser is joining show
The Chase's Mark ‘The Beast’ Labbett has said he is “gutted” another Chaser is joining the quiz show because he fears it will mean less work – and less money.
Labbett, who has been on the ITV programme since 2009, said he may even have to go back into teaching to boost his salary when the newcomer comes on board.
The show’s presenter Bradley Walsh confirmed late last year than another Chaser was joining the pool of quiz specialists, which is already comprised of Labbett, Jenny Ryan, Anne Hegerty, Paul Sinha and Shaun Wallace.

And Labbett thinks that having six Chasers will translate into less work.
The Sun quoted him as saying: “I’m gutted about it, to be honest.
“We only get paid for when we work so a new Chaser means less work.
“There will be a point where I can’t afford to do it any more.”
“I’ll have to go back to teaching,” he added.

Labett, 54, also said he thinks he is at a “slight disadvantage” when it comes to television, because he says there are “too many white middle-aged quiz presenters”.
Walsh revealed in November that another Chaser was joining the team.
He let it slip during an interview on Good Morning Britain, saying of the popular programme: “It’s 10 years old now, what can we say?
“We’ve got a brand new Chaser coming in for another new series. It just goes on and on.”
The Chase started in 2009.
