A record label has bought the rights to Mark Morrison’s music catalogue in a “multi-million dollar deal”. The Leicester artist behind ‘Return of the Mack’ agreed to the deal with label Seeker Music.

His 1996 chart topping hit has been sampled in more than 25 new songs since. Such as in ‘The Mack’ by Nevada ft. Fetty Wap and with re-recorded vocals by Morrison in ‘Provide’ by G.Eazy ft Chris Brown and Morrison.

The song has also appeared in the soundtracks of hit shows such as Euphoria and Entourage and in adverts for both McDonald’s and Burger King. His debut album, ‘Return of the Mack’, spun off several other UK top 10 singles including ‘Crazy’ and ‘Trippin’.

Morrison was the first artist in British pop history to have five top 10 hits from a debut album. Evan Bogart, CEO and Founder of Seeker Music, said that Morrison is “exactly the kind of innovative and inspirational artist that Seeker loves to create with” reports Music Business Worldwide.

Seeker said the deal goes beyond just acquisition and that they will partner with Morrison on creative campaigns. Scott Shephard, spokesman for Morrison's MackLife label said: "In February this year “Return of the Mack” was certified three times platinum in the UK, and four times platinum in the US - and it’s already a couple months away from going five times platinum in the US.

"Despite being released 27 years ago, the track still garners over one million streams per day. Mark’s catalogue has surpassed one billion streams on Spotify alone." Morrison's latest single- 'I Am What I Am (PS1 Remix) featuring PS1- has been released today.
