Mark Robins likens Coventry City situation to Monty Python sketch

Coventry City face going into their last game of the season with just one fit centre-half against QPR at the CBS Arena on Saturday.

The Sky Blues are already without central defenders Luis Binks (Achilles) and Liam Kitching, who will be serving the second of a three match suspension for being sent off at Blackburn last weekend. And now Joel Latibeaudiere is a major doubt for this weekend’s season finale after being forced off with a muscle injury in Tuesday night’s 2-1 defeat at home to Ipswich Town.

“We lost Joel and then Bidders came on and we were still attacking,” said manager Mark Robins. “We are down to one fit centre-half now so that’s a blow and it’s like a Monty Python sketch.”

Asked what Latibeaudiere has done, the City boss said: “I don’t know yet but I think it will be a muscle injury. But he has been nursing a calf issue for a while, so it may be a recurrence of that, but I don’t know yet.”

Jake Bidwell will once again be favourite to fill in, with the left-back having played left centre-back before, albeit in a back three rather than a four.

There was some positive news from the midweek match in that Ben Sheaf had recovered from an unspecified muscle issue that kept him out at Blackburn, with the midfielder able to get through the entire game. City are, however, still without Victor Torp (stomach strain) and Fabio Tavares (ankle).
