TV presenter Mark Speight was remembered on the 13th anniversary of his death by his former SMart co-star Kirsten O'Brien.

On 13 April 2008, Speight was found in a building nearby to Paddington railway station in London having taken his own life several days prior on 7 April. It came just over three months after his fiancee Natasha Collins, also a children's TV presenter, died at their home.

Writing on Twitter on Wednesday night, O'Brien shared: "Off to bed but just thinking about my mate Mark Speight who we lost 13 years ago today, still the funniest person I have ever had the joy of knowing."

Speight worked on the CBBC art programme from its inception in 1994 until he quit shortly after Collins' death, with O'Brien joining the presenting team in 1999, staying up until it came to an end in 2009.

Iain Stirling, who presented regularly on CBBC from 2009 until 2013, also paid tribute to Speight in light of the anniversary.

"Mark was one of the many reason I was so excited when I first started working at CBBC," he shared on Thursday. "A true legend. Today why not ask a friend how they are and then ask again. Could make all the difference. x."

An inquest into Collins' death in 2008 heard she had taken cocaine and sleeping tablets before getting into a hot bath that left her with scalds covering 60 percent of her body.

The coroner recorded a verdict of death by misadventure.

Speight was arrested on suspicion of murder and supplying Class A drugs following the discovery of Collins' body at the flat they shared in St John's Wood, London, however, he was later released and no charges were brought against him.
