Mark Wright has given an insight into his relationship with Michelle Keegan as he jokingly called her out live on the radio. The couple will soon be celebrating nine years of marriage after tying the knot at St Mary's Church in Bury St Edmunds in May 2015.

Former The Only Way is Essex star Mark previously revealed that they actually met backstage one year at The X Factor before subsequently bumping into each other at numerous other events after. "I chased her for a while," he previously admitted.

He joked on the Private Parts podcast hosted by Jamie Laing.: "Basically she gave me the elbow for about a year and then finally I got my way, after a lot of work. I don't know who was harder to crack actually, her or my American boss."

Now, it's been 18 months since the pair officially moved into their huge dream home. Michelle, 36, and Mark, 37, bought the mock-Tudor style house for a reported £3.5 million back in October 2019 and, over an almost four-year period, oversaw the knocking down of the existing property to build their very own luxury Georgian-style mansion.

They then moved in while they added the finishing touches to their dream home. But it wasn't until August last year (2023) that the actress Michelle and presenter Mark could actually celebrate following the addition of their incredible resort-like garden which completed the huge build and threw an epic party that included performances from Mark's pal Olly Murs, Scouting for Girls and a stand-up routine from Russell Kane.

Since the completion of the renovation, Mark has continued to post content on their dedicated home account on Instagram, Wrighty Home. In their most recent post, Mark shared a video that showcased the property's entrance hall, which included footage from before the renovation, as well as clips of it now. He reflected on the transformation in the accompanying caption and highlights features such as its "sweeping staircase" and the "centrepiece" chandelier.

Now Mark has now revealed the hard work put into finding the right chandelier as he explained Michelle's design "just did not work". Mark said on Heart FM: "I want to talk about something I did on Instagram this week... Now I don't know about you, but in my household, my partner makes the final decision and has the final say on everything...

"Even when saying 'Mark what do you think? What you think of this colour?' I'm like 'yeah, we should go for that one'...'well actually no, we're going for that one'... May as well just be quiet. But when it came to picking a chandelier in our house like the light in the middle of our hallway that drops from the third floor ceiling, she designed it and drew it and I was like 'what is that..'."

He added: "It's just loads of like light bulbs just dropping from the ceiling and when she drew it and designed it with the amazing company I looked at it... I was like 'this just doesn't work' and I really didn't like it but I had no say as I said but we went for it we hung it and it looks amazing.

"As we sometimes do we post our house updates on our Instagram account and when we did that we showed the chandelier off and I can't tell you how many comments I got that made me think why didn't I think of this at the start?...Basically, picture a light with loads and loads of hanging bulbs that are all different heights that you can't get to because it's hanging from the staircase in the middle."

He explained how his followers immediately questioned how they are going to be able to change the light bulbs when they go out to which Mark has now quipped: "So yeah thanks Instagram for letting me know and thanks for letting me know that I was correct and it was the wrong chandelier...So Michelle, next time I'm picking the light!"

It comes after Mark previously confessed that he lied to his wife on their first Valentine's Day together as he attempted to woo her with a romantic homemade meal. On his Heart radio show, Mark told listeners how Fool Me Once star Michelle had set the bar high with her cooking on their first Valentine's Day together.

Mark said the former Coronation Street favourite who shot to fame playing Tina McIntyre in the ITV soap, had made him 'the best rack of lamb' he'd ever tasted and so on their second Valentine's Day together, he said it was his turn to impress. "I've got to do it for her," the former TOWIE star recalled thinking, adding: "It should be the man treating the woman, I believe in my old-fashioned ways. But it can happen the other way - Michelle did it for me."

With Michelle working late, Mark saw it as the perfect chance to make a real effort. Thinking that he needed to do something to top, or at least match, Michelle's lamb dinner, Mark opted for lobster. However, he decided to leave it to the professionals and contacted a local restaurant, who prepared the dish, which he plated up and tried to pass off as his own.

He revealed that Michelle was impressed by his cooking skills, but it wasn't long before she figured out what had really happened. Mark said: "She was gobsmacked but it was that good. She was like 'there's no way you cooked this' ... I was like 'I did'." He continued: "Anyway the next morning she woke up, came into the room and she said 'Mark you're a liar!. I said 'why? as she pulled the bag from the restaurant that I stupidly put in the bin.

"So basically, I got clocked! I don't think that's a bad thing.... at least I tried and she still loved the meal but maybe I shouldn't have lied and said that I cooked it..."
