Martin Gage Dies: Talent Agent Whose Clients Included Kim Basinger, Tim Robbins, Woody Harrelson & Many More Was 89

Martin Gage, a veteran Hollywood and New York talent agent whose client roster over the decades included Woody Harrelson, Kirstie Alley, Geraldine Page, Kim Basinger and Tim Robbins, died Monday in Los Angeles. He was 89.

His death was announced by the BRS/Gage Talent Agency.

Born on May 4, 1934 in New York, Gage began his show business career as an actor in the 1950s, performing on and Off Broadway, as well as in summer stock and the Las Vegas production of the musical comedy La Plume de Ma Tante.

Gage shifted his focus to representation in the 1960s, first as a manager and then as an agent. He joined the Fifi Oscard Agency, and after four years became a partner in the newly-dubbed Oscard-Gage Agency. In 1973, he opened The Gage Group in New York and moved to Los Angeles two years later to expand the agency.

In 2014, his agency merged with BRS on both coasts to form BRS/Gage, with Martin Gage continuing to consult and advise until his death. He was a longtime board member of The Association of Talent Agents.

Other Gage clients over years included lifelong friend June Squibb, Paul Sorvino, Bernadette Peters, Jack Black, Liz Callaway, Mary Testa, Leslie Uggams, Danny Burstein, Debra Monk, Becky Ann Baker, Roz Ryan, K Callan, Joel Brooks, Vernee Watson, Harriet Harris, Wendy Schall and many others.

He is pre-deceased by his partner of 37 years, John Peck, and survived by his brother, Alan Gutcheon, as well as extended family.
