Martin Lewis complains of Baftas snub as he marks 50th bday on 'GMB'

Martin Lewis has complained about being snubbed by the TV Baftas, claiming he has never been invited to the awards ceremony.

The Good Morning Britain (GMB) guest host celebrated his 50th birthday while presenting the TV show the morning after the Baftas, but couldn't help letting slip a sour note as co-host Susanna Reid and entertainment reporter Richard Arnold discussed the awards and red carpet.

Lewis said: "I'm not engaging in this conversation as I've never been invited to the Baftas. Still haven't. But you all carry on after your lovely night."

He quipped: "I do need the loo at some point... Maybe you carry on. The best of British telly was there... [cough cough]."

The financial journalist rose to fame after founding the website MoneySavingExpert.com in 2003 and is a regular guest commentator on ITV's This Morning and Good Morning Britain.

Since the departure of Piers Morgan last year Lewis has become one of the rota of co-hosts to regularly join Reid presenting GMB.

And in 2012 he launched his own ITV show The Martin Lewis Money Show, offering advice on how to manage household bills and more recently the cost of living crisis.

Lewis was presented with a chocolate cake on Good Morning Britain to mark his 50th birthday.

He said: "I can't quite cope with the concept. I think everybody who gets to 50 must feel like this. I've got the glasses to prove I've got to the age, the grey's going in the hair and in the eyebrows, it's all starting to come - but you still feel like 20! How does it happen?!"

Reid said: "And you only look like 40, you're doing very well."

Lewis added: "I agreed to do this today, in the concept that I thought, 'Well it's my birthday, I'll be working anyway, I may as well have a longer birthday because I'll start earlier.'

"That was the wisdom that one lacks in one's 40s and now learns was maybe not necessarily the right decision once you start your 50s."

And the money expert revealed the biggest change he'd noticed in life was his "Oof".

He went on: "You know when you bend down - 'Oof'. When did we start going, 'Oof'?"
