A Martin Lewis fan has received a huge sum of cash after following a tip he saw on the Money Show Live.

Mr Lewis regularly appears on TV to share his pearls of wisdom. The Money Saving Expert founder is known for his financial tips and tricks, and they have never been more needed than now, amid the ongoing cost of living crisis.

Back in February Mr Lewis told ITV viewers about a backdated payment people can claim if they have lost a partner.

And in the latest MSE newsletter, one huge success story was shared. A fan named Gary wrote in and said: "Hi Martin & team, thank you. I watched your programme on widow's benefit.

"My partner died in 2013 and I was left a single dad with two stepsons and my son, who was a baby only just over a year old. Man I struggled and was living week by week.

"When I saw your programme, I thought 'well no harm in trying to get something', which turned out to be a life-changing sum of money. I got £39,000 backdated and also I'm now getting a monthly payment for my youngest lad, which is just over £500 a month for me to use.

"I can't work because of health problems so this has been a godsend. Now I can get my kids presents and don't have to worry for who I'm not gonna pay, so I can get a birthday or Xmas present. Thank you so so so much."

In the newsletter, Mr Lewis says bereavement support is still available if you lost your partner in the last 21 months, and "in a few cases, longer ago", you can find out more here
