Blackpool is no stranger to welcoming celebrities and making them feel at home.

Over the years, the town has welcomed famous faces such as Robbie Williams, Lady Gaga and even Friends star Lisa Kudrow. It's also known for its theatre and showbiz side, with shows as the Winter Gardens and performances in the Tower ballroom.

Now it appears there's another famous face has a soft spot for Blackpool - personal finance guru, Martin Lewis. He's the man we'd trust with our money and it appears we should trust his choice in holiday destinations as well.

Posting to Facebook yesterday (Thursday, June 13), the MoneySavingExpert stated he had visited Blackpool a few weeks ago and wanted to share his childhood love of the town with his daughter he shares with wife Lara Lewington. Admitting it was his daughter's third visit, Lewis shared the family had enjoyed a trip to the Pleasure Beach, tuppenny machines, walks along the beach and a trip to Sandcastle water park.

Also in the post, Lewis explained how he mentions holidaying in Blackpool to friends who live in the South East of England, but is usually met with a look of disapproval. However, he admits they've often never been to the town and instead, they should "do it right".

The full post reads: "We were in Blackpool a couple of weeks ago. I loved it as a kid and wanted to share that joy with mini MSE, so this was actually her third time there and she loves it, as do we. Huge great, long, wide sandy beach; rides at the pleasure beach, tuppenny machines, water parks and more.

"When I mention it to other friends who liv in the [south east], most look askance at the idea of a couple of days in Blackpool. Yet they've never been. So I wanted to pop up and say a good word. Do it right and it's a joy."

In the comments section, fellow Blackpool fan and comedian Simon Harris agreed with Lewis and mentioned his own recent trip. The broadcaster wrote: "We had an awesome time there a few years ago and even got a dance in the Tower Ballroom where I completely embarrassed my then five-year-old daughter.

"Don’t forget the kids get free Teddy Tickets on the trams too! Like all seaside resorts it has its issues but I’d recommend it to anyone."
