Martin Lewis' Money Saving Expert issues urgent £175 message to everyone with a bank account

Martin Lewis' Money Saving Expert (MSE) team are telling households about a chance to get a free £175 - but they must act quickly. A number of banks have been offering account switching deals over recent weeks in a bid to lure customers from rivals.

People can get free cash by agreeing to switch their account to another bank. But these offers are only open for a certain time and many of them have closed for now. The MSE team say there is now only one left and that it ends on Monday, meaning people will need to act fast in order to bag the cash.

The deal is from First Direct and offers £175 to new customers who switch to their account. They said: "The last FREE (£175) cash bank switch available is ending."

"A few weeks ago, five banks were paying for your custom, now just one's left and its offer ends on Monday. Top customer service bank First Direct pays new switchers a free £175, gives many a £250 interest-free overdraft, and you get access to a linked 7% regular saver.

"Full eligibility criteria in best bank accounts (on the MSE website)." The money experts said they hoped more bank-switching cash offers would become available but it was currently uncertain if and when that would happen.

Martin Lewis has considered people to consider taking advantage of these offers if they are right for them as they can bring free cash for minimal hassle. They said: "We hope more switch offers will launch in the coming weeks, but can't be sure."
