Martin Lewis's MSE team tells Tesco shoppers to spend 50p in next two weeks

Martin Lewis's MoneySavingExpert team has urged Tesco shoppers to spend 50p in the next two weeks to ensure that millions of pounds of Clubcard vouchers don't go to waste. Tesco has issued a warning that £17-million worth of Clubcard vouchers are set to expire on March 31, and have to be spent before that date.

But the Money Saving Expert site has explained the 50p trick that will let you keep the vouchers and still use them after the end of this month. MSE said: "If you've got a Tesco Clubcard, check when your vouchers are due to expire as there are two weeks left to spend or extend nearly £17 million-worth before they run out on Friday 31 May.

"In addition, more than £27 million in 'Reward Partner' codes – vouchers that have been exchanged to spend at various third party retailers – are set to expire over the next four weeks." If you don't want to spend Clubcard vouchers, you can try to extend them.

MSE warned: "Remember you'll need to extend your vouchers by 11.59pm on Friday 31 May." Make a small purchase on the Tesco Clubcard Rewards page and you can then swap your points for vouchers manually or wait for them to be converted with your next statement

MSE added: "A good option might be a 50p restaurant voucher (worth £1 at your chosen restaurant)." Ashwin Prasad, Tesco Chief Commercial Officer, said: “People across the UK will be looking forward to two Bank Holiday weekends in May and thinking about how they can make the most of them.

"Tesco Clubcard holders can use the power of Clubcard to unlock all sorts of Bank Holiday fun, from saving on their shopping when they pick up their BBQ food, or to exchanging for 2x value with 100-plus Reward Partners, offering everything from fun days out for the family to meals out at some of the UK’s most-popular restaurant chains.

“With millions of vouchers expiring at the end of this month, we are urging everyone to make the most of their Clubcard this May and check to see if any vouchers or reward codes are expiring.”
