Mary Berry's easy banana bread recipe can be prepared in just 15 minutes
Banana bread is a popular recipe that many turn to when they've allowed their yellow fruits to ripen too much and turn brown.
Mary Berry has shared a 'lovely' recipe for banana bread that takes just 15 minutes to prepare and an hour in the oven to cook, reports the Express.
She wrote: "This is a lovely, moist loaf which really doesn’t need to be buttered. It freezes extremely well. Any bananas left in the fruit bowl are ideal for this cake - the riper they are, the better."
Baking ingredients can often be a pain to shop for but thankfully, this recipe is so simple that you probably have all the ingredients you need in your kitchen cupboards. This is the perfect loaf to treat yourself on a lazy afternoon or when you need to use up the contents of your fruit bowl.

Mary Berry's banana loaf recipe
Ingredients
225g of self-raising flour
175g of caster sugar
100g of butter (softened)
Two ripe bananas
Two eggs
Two tablespoons of milk
One teaspoon of baking powder
Kitchen equipment:
Loaf tin
Method
Pre-heat the oven to 180C and lightly grease your loaf tin before lining it with baking paper.
Place all the ingredients into a large mixing bowl and stir until combined.
Spoon the mixture into the prepared tin and smooth over the surface with a spoon.
Place in the oven and bake for around an hour, until the loaf is well-risen and golden brown.
Test the readiness of the loaf by inserting a toothpick into the centre of the loaf, and if it comes out clean the cake is ready to take out of the oven.
Once ready, take out the oven and leave to cool in the tin for a few minutes. Then, use a knife to run across the sides of the loaf tin and turn the cake out.
Remove the baking paper and leave on a wire rack to cool completely.
