A simple hummus recipe has been shared by cooking icon Mary Berry and it is the perfect addition to a fresh summer picnic.
The weather is finally turning around and many people will be getting prepared for the incoming sunny skies and warmer temperatures.
Going for a picnic is a popular choice of activity at this time of year and one fun side that people love is hummus and carrots or some pitta bread.
Hummus is a wonderful addition to any vegetables or salad - and you can make your own at home with Mary Berry's recipe.
The chef shared the recipe on her website and it only requires six ingredients - making it a really easy thing to whip up before you head out the door.
Check out the recipe below and make your own zesty hummus to pair with vegetables of your choice.
Mary Berry's simple hummus recipe - serves six
Ingredients
Two 400 g cans chick peas, drained
Two to three garlic cloves - coarsely chopped
One tablespoon of tahini paste - or to taste
Three tablespoons of olive oil - or to taste
Juice of one lemon - or to taste
Salt and black pepper
Method
Begin by pureeing the chick peas, tahini paste, lemon juice and oil in a blender or food processor until the mixture is smooth.
Add salt and pepper to taste, and more of the paste, oil or lemon juice if you think it needs it. Then, whizz it again in the blender.
Spoon into dishes and garnish with your choice of sides. Mary has suggested some rosemary, red pepper and olives.
